Staff Spotlight - Grace Prorok

Grace Prorok - Program Director

Quote: Camp is the opportunity for Scouts to live out and practice the principles and the skills they learn during the rest of the year.... taking kids out of their comfort zones and giving them unique challenges to form a team and grow as individuals is what Scouting is all about. There's no better way to do that than to come out to Summer Camp. The patrols, troops, and staff grow so much through overcoming challenges and becoming better leaders.

Scouting Background: Venturer from Crew 4929 in Twinsburg since 2013, recipient of Summit Award and Ranger Award, the two highest awards in Venturing. Recipient of Council, Area, and Region Venturing Leadership Awards. Two-time Area 4 Venturing President and Central Region VP of Communications. Currently a Brotherhood Member of Erielhonan Lodge.

Beaumont Camp Staff:
2014 - CIT for Webelos Resident Camp
2015 - Scoutcraft Program Counselor
2016 - WBSR Instructor
2017 and 2018 - Pool Director
2018 - Lake Erie Council Intern, Communications
2019 - Honors Director
2020 and 2021 - Program Director, Scouts BSA Resident Camp

Favorite Place to Spend Time at Camp: The crow's nest of the Neshkin Amphitheater. My favorite memory there is laying on the floor of the crow's nest while watching fireworks on the 4th of July after MCing a campfire.

Favorite Campsite: Ermer! Even though I haven't site hosted since 2016, the relationships I was able to form with Troops camping there still live on today, and they keep giving me good food at camp too!

Outside of Scouting: Senior at Kent State University majoring in Digital Media Production and Marketing.

Who originally got you to join camp staff? Phil Williams. My first Venturing event was Cub Haunted, where I got the "you should join camp staff" pitch from Phil. I was super excited, I had always wanted to be on Camp Staff since I was a kid. Had to print out a 10-page application, fill it out, and get a signature and leader recommendation from my Venturing Advisor. I wrote a cover letter too, which I still have a copy of.
