What is Nova?
Nova is a program for Scouts to explore and expand on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) through their current Scouting programs, while recognizing and awarding their additional efforts. The program aims to foster curiosity and understanding of STEM concepts and their real-world applications. Through hands-on activities guided by Nova counselors and mentors, Scouts can earn a Nova award for each of the four STEM areas.
Those with a passion for STEM can aspire toward earning the Supernova Award. Scouts can work with a mentor to complete their own experiments and studies within different STEM fields to earn three prestigious awards, presented to the Scouts in a ceremony. Learn more at Supernova Awards.
Nova Awards:
Scouts can earn Nova awards by completing specific Nova activities. Each activity has an associated Merit Badge that they need to earn in addition to completing the activity.
