As part of our ongoing commitment to abuse prevention, the Boy Scouts of America continuously reviews our Youth Protection policies and updates requirements as needed. In the above video, these changes have been outlined in detail. The Lake Erie Council, BSA has adopted these policies for the safety and well-being of its members.  

These policies primarily protect youth members; however, they also serve to protect adult leaders. All parents and caregivers should understand that our leaders must abide by these safeguards.

The video provides clarification on how you and your volunteer team can help adapt to the update. It is vital that we remember that this is all about keeping our young people safe. Scouting represents the most impactful youth-serving movement the world has ever seen, and that legacy lives on today through dedicated volunteer leaders like you. 

As the Scouting movement takes these next steps, I want to stress that, thanks to Scouting’s rigorous, expert-informed youth safety policies and resources, Scouting is safer now than ever before.
