Hey everyone, welcome to this week’s 3-minute update. I’m your host, Tyler Matthews coming to you from our membership tracker! We’ve made it all the way up to 5,124 youth members in Lake Erie Council! Huge round of applause for how far we’ve come just this month. By the time September is over we will have welcomed over 400 new Scouts just in the month of September. The work isn’t done though, we still need a little over 800 more new Scouts by the end of this year! Now that October is approaching, it’s time to start thinking about meeting new scout families at your local Trunk or Treats, fall fests, pumpkin patches and…. Dare I say…. Maybe even consider some holiday events? *GASP!* Too spooky to start thinking that far ahead right now. Great job everyone on the work we’ve done so far and let’s keep that momentum rolling right into this weeks news.
You know what’s cool? Trained leaders! Do you want to be cool? Make sure that you and all leaders Safeguarding Youth Training is up to date, Hazardous weather training is complete, and your position specific training is complete as well. Our Scouts deserve the best leaders possible, and that starts with training!
Speaking of training, EDGE training is at Firelands on October 25th, and at the Unit Service center on November 15th. Sign up through the council calendar!
Also, a quick training update: Last year, a team came together to update Fundamentals of Training and Trainers EDGE. The training was piloted at Philmont, and additional updates were made. The updated training came with new names for both: “Fundamentals of Training Part 1 - Science of Training” and “Fundamentals of Training Part 2 - Craft of Training. Once the training was updated, it was decided that the Science of Training would be offered online in the BSA Learn Center. Scouting U is pleased to share the release of the online version of the Science of Training Learning Plan, effective 9/23/25. The training is available to be taken immediately.
There will not be an online version for the Craft of Training.
