Council Insurance Fee Update Effective August 1, 2026

The safety of our Scouts, volunteers, staff, and families remains the most important part of the Scouting experience and continues to be our top priority.

Effective August 1, 2026, the Lake Erie Council Insurance Fee will increase from $12 annually to $16 annually per registered youth and adult member.

This is the first increase to the Council Insurance Fee since it was introduced in 2019.

When the fee was established, it helped offset a portion of the significant insurance costs required to protect our Scouting community. Since that time, insurance expenses have continued to rise, just as many families and organizations have experienced with health, auto, and property insurance. Even so, Lake Erie Council has kept this fee unchanged for six years, absorbing those increases while working to remain fiscally strong and focused on delivering quality Scouting programs.

Throughout that time, the council has continued to seek the best available insurance rates and carefully manage costs. However, rising premiums now require a modest adjustment to ensure we can continue providing the coverage and protections that support a safe and sustainable Scouting experience.

This $4 annual increase helps Lake Erie Council continue to:

  • Maintain critical insurance protections for youth and adult members

  • Support a safe Scouting environment for all participants

  • Responsibly manage rising operating costs

  • Preserve the long-term financial health of the council

Thank you for your continued support of Scouting and for helping us deliver safe, meaningful experiences for young people across Lake Erie Council.
