3-Minute Update - August 28, 2025

Hey everyone, welcome to this week’s 3-minute update. I’m your host, Tyler Matthews coming to you from our membership tracker! We’re up to 4709 youth served in Lake Erie Council! Every day and every new scout gets us one step closer to 6000! Now, let’s get into this week’s news. 

Back to school time is just around the corner! It’s time to start planning your units fall recruitment events. Contact your unit service executive for assistance and don’t forget to request your materials early!

Speaking of back to school, remember that training is cool! Make sure that you and all leaders Safeguarding Youth Training is up to date, Hazardous weather training is complete, and your position specific training is complete as well. Our Scouts deserve the best leaders possible, and that starts with training!

Speaking of training, Baloo at Firelands is September 6th and 7th, EDGE training Beaumont on September 27th, EDGE Firelands on October 25th, and at the Unit Service center on November 15th. Scoutmaster Basic Training is at Beaumont from September 12th-14th. Register for all these trainings and more online at the council calendar.

Service at the beach Geneva is from September 19th-21st, registration is open now!

Registration for Cub Haunted is open! Happening the first three weekends in October, register soon to take advantage of the early bird price! Our spooky, scary, haunted mansion theme is complete with pumpkin carving, cider making, haunted trails and fall fun! Also looking for troops to volunteer.

Attention all Cub Scouts! The Champions for Nature Loop Lab begins at the Adventure Lab in September! Cub Scouts looking to earn their Champions for Nature Loop can attend one of 6 sessions on September 9th, 11th, 16th, 23rd 25th, or 30th at The Adventure Lab from 4:30-6pm. Attend as a pack, den, or just you and your family! Sessions are $15 and parents and guardians attending are free. Register today!

For Scouts BSA the Adventure Lab is kicking off its Fall Program in September with some exciting programs! For Second class Scouts and up, attend a 2 part first aid badge lab on September 9th and 30th, For Scouts 14+, we have a Personal Management Badge Lab on September 11th, All scouts can attend the Disability Awareness Badge Lab on September 16th, Safety Badge Lab on Sept 23rd, Chemistry Badge Lab on Sept 25th, and bring your non-scout friends to an Engineering Exploration on Sept 27th! Beaumont’s Wilderness Engineers weekend is September 12th-14th! No special skills necessary, just the desire to help bring the Scouting program to all youth through a positive camping experience. Meals & housing are provided! Wilderness Engineers is open to anyone who is 18 years old or older!

Following Wilderness engineers, we are excited to invite you to be part of a very special event – The Stewards of Beaumont – a gathering that brings together friends, families, alumni, and supporters of Beaumont Scout Reservation to celebrate our camp's legacy and ensure its continued success for generations to come. September 14, 2025 at 12:30pm in the Augustus. Register today!

The national catholic committee on Scouting camporee is being held from October 17th-19th 2025. This “Pilgrims of Hope” camporee is open to all scouts, not just Catholic units. You can find more information here and for any questions contact Jim Hickey.
