3 Minute Update - October 1, 2026

Hey everyone, welcome to this week’s 3-minute update. I’m your host Tyler Matthews coming to you from Halloweentown! I’m in full swing spooky season over here folks. October is the best, we’ve got football, pumpkin coffee, scary movies, popcorn, and TONS of fun Scouting events kicking off. It’s going to be an awesome fall! Let’s get into this week’s news.

Cub Haunted is here! This pirate themed spooktacular event is full of cider making, pumpkin bowling, jack o lantern carving, haunted trails, rock walls, range and target activities, plus more fall fun for the whole family! We have three weekends of fun planned, happening October 2nd – 4th , 9th – 11th , and 16th – 18th at Beaumont Scout Reservation. This event offers both tent camping and lodge stays but register now to make sure your unit gets the spot you want! Register now and if you have any questions, you can reach out to Anthony Dworning.

Is your pack or troop planning to advertise at any trunk or treat events in your neighborhood? Wanna add some fun scout giveaways with your candy for trick or treaters? Fall Program at the Adventure Lab is in full swing. Here are the upcoming October badge labs that your Scout can attend: Emergency Preparedness, citizenship in the nation, Artificial Intelligence, and cyber security. Register today!

New to the Adventure Lab are Open Labs on Wednesday nights. For $5, drop in to the lab for hands-on projects that also meet merit badge requirements! Check out the registration page for a full list of Open Lab topics.

The OA is preparing to host the Lodge Induction Experience, or L.I.E. October 23rd through the 25th at Beaumont Scout Reservation. The Lodge Induction Experience is being offered to all members of Erielhonan Lodge, and attendance will be an important part of preparing members to help conduct inductions in the future. Beginning in 2027, this will be the experience that all candidates go through, making LIE an opportunity for lodge members to learn about the changes, understand the new process, and experience it for themselves. In addition to the induction experience, Erielhonan Lodge will also be holding its Lodge Executive Committee on Sunday October 25th at Beaumont. Members interested in running for a position have been asked to complete an application, which is due by October 18th before midnight. We’re looking forward to welcoming lodge members to Beaumont for a weekend focused on experiencing the future of our induction program, developing lodge leadership, and continuing to build the future of Erielhonan Lodge.

There is a November MBU happening at Beaumont Scout reservation. The MBU runs from the 13th-14th and will offer First Aid, Art, Drafting, Journalism, Communications, Public Speaking, Home Repairs, Cooking, Electricity, and Space Exploration merit badges. The Lake Erie Council is hosting a Range Safety Officer Training at the Unit Service Center on Saturday, November 21, 2026! If you want to help run rifle, shotgun, cowboy action, or muzzleloading ranges, this training is required. Register now

It’s never too early to get into the holiday spirit! Registration is open for this years Holidays at camp happening December 19th at Firelands Scout reservation. This one day experience will feature wreath making, shooting sports, cookie decorating, wagon rides, snow man competitions, hot chocolate and more!

Mark your calendars for the 2027 Klondikes! January 22nd – 24th , and January 29th – 31st  hosted at Beaumont Scout reservation, and February 12th – 14th at Firelands Scout reservation.

Finally, one last BIG announcement- The World Scout Jamboree is happening next summer, July 30th – August 8th in Poland!
