Hey everyone, welcome to this week’s 3-minute update. I’m your host, Tyler Matthews coming to you from Liberty Hall in Philadelphia! This seemed appropriate given that we’ve just kicked off America 250, a yearlong 250th birthday celebration for the United States! Scouts and units are going to have plenty of opportunities to get involved and partake in some fun events all year long, so make sure you stay tuned in the coming weeks and months to get more information! Klondike reservations are open. January 23rd- 25th, and the 30th through February 1st are the 2 remaining Beaumont klondikes, and Firelands will have theirs from February 20th-22nd. Sign up now!
Solon troop 504 is hosting a First Aid Meet on February 8th from 11am-3pm at Solon School. This patrol based competition will test Scouts knowledge of first aid skills and team work. The cost is $15 per Scout and they ask that each patrol bring their own patrol first aid kit. Additionally, the Solon High drama club will be providing stage makeup and special effects for a realistic first aid experience. Don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity! Join us for Sap Camp out at Beaumont Scout Reservation on March 7th from 10am-4pm. Participants will get to learn all about the history and process of making maple syrup. Activities include tree tapping, log splitting, syrup tasting, a pancake lunch, and more! Don’t miss out!
This year’s Wood Badge and NYLT scholarship breakfast will be held Saturday, March 14th at Lakewood high school. Doors open at 8am and the program begins at 8:45. Tickets are $15 for adults and $7.50 for youth. Tickets purchased at the door the day of the event will be $25. Registration is open now through March 8th so sign up today!
Join us, March 21st for this year’s University of Scouting. The University of Scouting is a Council-wide supplemental training extravaganza for all Cub Scout, Scouts BSA and Venturing leaders as well as potential leaders, Commissioners, Committee Members, and youth. The best instructors available will help enhance your leadership skills to work with the youth of our communities. Bring your unit’s Leadership Team so you can share the knowledge. We also offer courses suited to the needs and interests of Youth Scouts. Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Lorain County JVS in Oberlin, OH. Spring programs at the Adventure Lab are now live! Sign up now for Badge Labs and Explorations happening from January through mid May. January badge labs include Game Design, Electronics, Programming, Chess, fingerprinting, leatherworking, and disability awareness. For a full list of labs, visit the council calendar. These labs are held at the adventure lab in the unit service center.
